#TSB Sisters of the New South Review

Happy Saturday Slammers, we hope your weekend is well. Let’s get into today’s TRUTH. Recently, a slammer asked us to visit a restaurant entitled “Sisters of the New South” located at 27 Piedmont Ave Northeast, Atlanta, Ga 30303 and give it an evaluation. The slammer provided us with a gift certificate for the team so naturally we had to oblige. LoL!

We began by attempting to call in our order ahead of time. The phone rang for 12 minutes before we finally hung up upon retrieval of the answering service. When it comes to customer service we are a stickler for fairness and consumer awareness. The establishment not answering during business hours is unacceptable as the site suggest for one to call in. With that said, let’s get into today’s trip
to SOTNS.

We will start with the Did Wells:

  1. Large space with ample seating.
  2. Extra clean common area.
  3. Ideal temperature setting.
  4. Amazing use of the Natural Light.
  5. Nice food set up allowing you to see what options you have.
  6. Superb Customer Service.
  7. Employees Greeted us with a smile.

Now let’s talk the Do Better Next Times:

  • No Menus anywhere on the wall. There was a 8”x12” piece of paper on the counter for all to share.
  • Extremely SLOW Service.
  • Bad process coordination.
  • Poorly trained staff.

Here’s the full breakdown:

Upon arrival we were behind 2 gentlemen. One had ordered and the other was waiting to order. He had the paper menu in his hand and kept it even after he ordered. As we stepped to the “Order Here” area we found a folded menu in the corner of the counter.

The 2 staff members who were at the counter were tied up making the plates for those prior to us. Oppose to working together and each take a side of the food station, one do meats and one do sides, they chose to work around each other and make the process even slower.

From our point of entry to placing our order it was a 8 minute wait. Upon greeting us the young lady was very pleasant, apologized for the wait and provided us a smile. Upon taking our order, the confusion started all over again. During this time we observed 4 people come in and depart due to the lack of efficiency.

No lie, had we not paid the meter to park we would have departed as well. Oh yeah, there’s no free parking.

6 minutes after placing our order the plates were done. As we headed down the counter to the register we noticed a stack of menus next to the end of the food station. Absolutely the wrong end of the counter. Nevertheless, we get to the register and the young lady who was assisting us is unable to ring us up. She advises we will be checked out by the other young lady who was still making the plates for the first gentleman who we mentioned earlier. After waiting about 2 minutes the young lady who made our plates went to the back and retrieved someone else who could ring us up.

Now! For the meat and potatoes, THE FOOD! We ended up with,

  • Hamburger Steak
  • Turkey Wings
  • Smothered Pork Chops
  • Collard Greens
  • Green Beans
  • Mac N Cheese
  • Dressing
  • Cornbread
  • Red Rice

The food was absolutely Amazing. Oh my gosh! Everything was seasoned to perfection. The gravy was perfectly made. The meat was tender and the dressing was superb. We all know how easy it is to mess up some dressing.
Overall, we give the following grades,

  • Experience
  1.  6/10
  • Efficiency
  1. 2/10
  • Cleanliness
  1. 10/10
  • Food
  1. 10/10
  • Pricing
  1. 8/10
  2. The only reason it’s not a 10/10 is because the desserts are all $4.75, which is not cost efficient.
  • Value Price vs. Portion
  1. 7/10
  2. All sides are 1 scoop and the meats were 1 (medium sized) piece each.

All in all, SOTNS provided us an amazing meal. However, due to the slow service and child like portions, we won’t be visiting too often but we will go back for some dressing.

Now that we have all the formalities out of the way we can get to the breakdown of the night. We will begin by saying, if you have a favorite artist from the night, you may not want to read any further. We plan, to tell the Truth the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth so help us Gawd!.

 Upon arrival, we were provided with the line-up for the night. Dri Jack, Vina Mills, Bobbi Storm, Tiffany Evans. Naturally, when thinking of a line up we remembered the old saying;

“Whoever is first may be the worse, the ones in-between choose to be seen. No matter what is done, there can only be one so save the best for last!”

With that in mind, let the TRUTH Begin:

Dri JackDri Jack: This young lady is unknown to the TSB family. We all asked each other who she was and no one knew. However, she had the crowd going crazy. Her beauty is undeniable and her vocals are present. She gave a very clean show with no added extras. She presented a very enjoyable and interactive personality. She engaged the audience a lot and really set the tone for an evening of music. Overall for Dri Jack: Styling 10/10. Hair 10/10. Beat 10/10. Vocals 6.79/10.

Vina Mills: We have seen Vina Mills hit the stage many times. As always Vina puts on a Vina Millsshow. Her one-woman show is very hype and the intensity is contagious. She had the added effect of having her infamous “V” on her mic stand. It gave very Super Woman/Power Puff Girl Teas. He hair was Slayed, Layed, and Prayed into a Miracle. She had 3 fans and was giving you the Storm from X-Men effect. Her attire was annoying and someone beside us actually asked their friend if she was pregnant… Oop! If she is it must be a secret. I think it was just how the front of the bathing suit she had on was made. Overall for Vina Mills: Styling 2/10. Hair 10/10. Beat 1/10. Vocals VOID. It’s no secret that Vina is a studio singer.

Bobbi StormBobbi Storm: This young lady is another artist we were introduced to for the first time last night. Her Blonde hair stands out even in a crowd and makes you wonder who she is. Her show was absolutely amazing. Her vocals, her presentation, her crowd interaction and her song selection all set her up to be our break-out artist of the night. After performing an original piece, she did “Rise Up” by Andra Day. Take it from us, we know this song is NOT for the weak and nonvocalized. However, Ms. Bobbi Storm slayed this song so hard in the name of werrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk almighty. Her vocals were crisp, impeccable, stellar and most of all, she did the song total justice. She ended her set with an upbeat rock meets pop meets blues meets funk type of song and she had the crowd rocking. The song, her performance, her energy, it was all or nothing for her and it was truly a pleasing set. Overall for Bobbi Storm: Styling 7/10. Hair 10/10. Beat She gave us Natural Teas and is Naturally Pretty. Vocals 10/10. Just so you know, she is on our radar for Next to Blow if she keeps it up.

TiffEvansTiffany Evans: Tiffany ended the night as one would expect. As an already established singer with a mainstream fan base, it only makes sense that she close out the night. Before she hit the stage her band set up and you could tell by the seriousness on their face’s that you were in for a show. She opened up with some of her new music, took us to the throwback of ‘Promise Ring’ came back to the new music, hit us with a Beyonce’ cover of ‘Speechless’ and naturally ended with more of her originals. To say she gave anything less that an amazing show would be a lie. The crowd was engaged the entire time. It was easy to tell that her base was in the house and they were holding it down for their Ms. Evans. Her outfit was annoying as she had on this robe effect which covered the cuteness of her jeans, it was just all wrong. Her hair was there and she was rocking it. Her face gave you a light natural beat and her personality was on 1000. Tiffany Evans not only shut the night down, she shut the stage down. Overall for Tiffany Evans: Styling 3/10. Hair 7.5/10. Beat 10/10. Vocals 10/10. See Tiffany’s LIVE Performance via Facebook Live.

On another note, you know you can’t have an event without a host. Mylah Music, Co-Creator of The Revival Atl was also the host. She was upbeat and fun throughout the night and knew how to keep the crowd engaged. However, she continued to reference how Tipsy she was and how she was sippin on her Hennessey, which is very unbecoming for a lady but a host as well. Furthermore, whoever styled her needs to be shot, fired, delivered, baptized, and resurrected to be shot again. She had on Lamp Shade Panta and a bathing suit tucked it. Ugh! The Fashion Gawdz were in total anger mode at her outfit. Now, she has a body sculpted for the Gawdz and a Smile that lights up a room, unfortunately, last night the outfit was too much out of tune to enjoy her charisma and natural beauty.

All in all, it was an awesome night. Kudos to The Revival Atl for another successful event. Many Congrats on the 1 Year Anniversary. We wish them many more years of great events, great talent, and great memories.

Felixx ‘Crazy’ #TSB Review

R&B sensation Felixx is back with his new track entitled, “Crazy.” With the recent release of the video directed by Anthony Kalel, we get a glimpse into the mind of the artist.

It’s no secret that we here at TrueSlamBook are fans of Felixx, he has grown up in the past few years but still has that baby face. The vocals represented in this video are nothing short of amazing. His soft tones and killer inflections make for an enjoyable track. His sex appeal combined with the beauty of the main girl allows for one to be able to pay attention to the entire video without eyesores.

Crazy as a song is one that we all can relate to. Being CRAZY over that one person is something that the masses as a whole have experienced. With a song such as this, there is no reason Felixx can’t make a wave. With over 6k views in under a month, we are sure this is going to be another success for the R&B phenom

Make sure to follow Felixx and stay in Tune with his success:

Sausage Party #TSB Movie Review

Last night the TrueSlamBook team headed off to Regal Cinemas for another night of film review. Upon arrival, we caught the last viewing of “Sausage Party,” the new film by creators Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Jonah Hill.S2Upon walking in the theater, we were the only patrons. However, within 5 minutes of the film beginning the theater was loaded with an abundance of adults on date night. This let us know just how much the consumer base was ready to see this film.

When the film begins you are introduced to Sausage and Bun. These two sit on the same shelf side by side in anticipation for the major Red, White, and Blue Day aka 4th of July sale.

From the moment the film begins you are sucked in by the beautiful visual artistry. The color scheme is absolutely amazing and the construction put into the cartoon characters is impecable. Within the first 10 minutes of the film, you are smiling as a result of the uncontrollable laughter.S4As you can see from the trailer, the grocery items have 1 goal ant that is to get chosen and taken to the GREAT Beyond. The film tells a tale of the life of a grocery item from purchase to expiration. The uninhibited breakdown that is expressed is superb and keeps your attention throughout the entire film.

Walking into the film, we expected a nice adult cartoon that would make us giggle at most. However, we were provided with a comedic roller coaster that makes you literally Laugh Out Loud and ask yourself, ‘could this be?’

Without giving too much away, we will tell you to be on the look out for the Non-Perishables, Teresa Taco, and Douche’. We promise you, this film has something for everyone. Also, kudos to the creators as they expressed a diverse range of characters without prejudice and ensured all were represented.  Just wait until you get a load of the ‘Fruits’, the ‘Nuts’ and our favorite, ‘Teresa Taco.’S3With all elements combined, “Sausage Party” gets a 10 out of 10 from TrueSlamBook and it truly on our recommendation list. Just remember it is RATED R!
