Charlie Murphy has Passed at the age of 57

Taking a break from the normal Tea Breaks. It has been reported that famed comedian and actor Charlie Murphy has passed away after his on-going battle with leukemia.

According to Charlie’s Manager, Charlie had been undergoing chemotherapy recently and passed away while in the hospital in New York City.

Charlie was recently on tour with Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, George Lopez and D.L. Hughley. Truly an epic show full of epic comedians.

Our prayers go out to the Murphy family during their time of mourning.

Kanye is now Jim Jones

Here we go again with the Chronicles of Narnia….. We mean Yeazy!!!! According to the tea pot, Yeezy checked himself into a hospital last night (November 21) as Jim Jones. The name is fitting as we know Jim is crazy as a bed bug. #NoShade

Lawenforcementt sources tell TMZ, the call came in as a male with mental illness. Dr. Michael Farzam said his patient’s name was “Jim Jones, 39 years old, 5’8″, 175 lbs … suffers from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.” According to the police report the doctor told cops he had placed Kanye on a 5150 psychiatric hold and wanted him taken to UCLA Medical Center. There’s an issue over whether the doctor actually placed Kanye on a 5150. (TMZ)

In any case, here’s what Jim had to say:

jim

Are you here for the foolery with Kanye and Jim???? #Soundoff

TSB Review: Too Be Frank

I will admit, we are late as hell but we finally got to see Episode 4 of “Too Be Frank!”

This episode hit home for everyone as Frank tackled beauty, the meaning of, and hiding behind a filter! Or, so we thought!

Ha. Yes! This episode is not for the Basics or Uglies. LoL.

The team watched it as a collective and here’s our TRUTH:

  • Franklin has the weakest friends. Except for Demi. We love us some Demi.
  • We love the elevated use of Twitter to feed Frank’s thoughts. I think we laughed more at the Tweets than the dialogue.
  • We need Frank to throw the blue hat away. LoL! No need to hide the Hair-Don’t. LoL!
  • The singer boy got us all in our emotions. His voice Slayed.
  • Today’s word of the day was “Snatched!” LoL. Y’all know Frank don’t know the lingo. Or, so he says. Oop.
  • Ooh, where did Santana come from???? Heeeeeeeyyyyyy Santana!
  • Why is Franklin scared to talk to boys? Isn’t He tired of being a NYC Virgin. LoL

Franklin delivers another good episode. The show has really grown Episode by episode. Franklin is growing into NYC and it’s looking good on him. The racial undertones in this episode were done in a comedic way to not offend anyone. With all the racial tension in society, to see it addressed with relation to dating and fitting in makes it just enough for the viewer base.

Get into episode 4 Below and make sure you stay through the credits to see Episode 5………

TSB Insecure Show Review

Scrolling through our inbox as usual and we were sent a link to the trailer of Insecure.

After watching the trailer, we headed to On Demand to do a full show review.

Now, we all know things happen so, as we went to find the show we found out the cable was off. Oop! Our bad.

Upon paying the bill we were able to access our On Demand Menu. Shout out to the Pay By Phone option. In any case, we proceeded to TV Shows, then HBO and finally Insecure.

Insecure:

“Two black women share friendship and uncomfortable experiences.”

Let’s get into our rundown. Issa Rae is an amazing, über talented young lady. What started off as a web series entitled, ‘The Mis-Adventures of Awkard Black Girl’ has landed her a spot on HBO under the name ‘Insecure! The politically incorrect ways of the show are absolutely exciting. We haven’t seen anything like this since Dave Chappell. The storyline is relatable. The characters make you think of your personal friends and the fashion is spot on.
Issa:

  • Funny
  • Smart
  • Quick Whitted
  • Cute
  • Very Spunky
  • Needy

The show presents you to a few characters who are a part of Issa’s life. These people are key to the story that she lays out for you. The two main people are:

  1. Her Bestfriend: Funny, Fashion Diva, Weave is Layed for the Gawdz, Eye Candy, Issa’s Right Hand.
  2. Her Boyfriend: Broke, Needy, Ain’t Shit, Cute, Waste of time.

Throughout the episode Issa takes you on a journey of her normal daily flow. It is also her Birthday so we get to see what the turn up is like.

We are excited to see what comes of Insecure. Overall the show gets a 9 out of 10. We will be tuned in weekly and we hope you will as well.

Trailer Review ‘Almost Christmas’ by David E. Talbert

When you hear the name David E. Talbert, what comes to mind? For us here at #TSB the words Play Writer. Story teller. Film Director. Perspective Genius. And, Hilarious come to mind, just to name a few. A few months back, David sent out an email advising of his upcoming project entitled, “Almost Christmas.”Releasing on November 11th, 2016; Almost Christmas is a hilarious family comedy that has a character for everyone.

From writer/director David E. Talbert (Baggage Claim) and producer Will Packer (Ride Along, Think Like a Man series, This Christmas), Almost Christmas tells the festive story of a beloved patriarch who asks his family for one gift this holiday season: to get along. If they can honor that wish and spend five days under the same roof without killing one another, it will be a Christmas miracle.

The all-star cast of Almost Christmas is led by Kimberly Elise (best know for crying ass TT in Set it off), Danny Glover (known best from his role in Lethal Weapon), John Michael Higgins (we don’t know where he comes from), Romany Malco (who’s this?), Mo’Nique (an original Queen of Comedy. The one Hollywood blacklisted), JB Smoove (the black guy who does comedy but needs to give it up), Gabrielle Union (the bougie one from Hampton), Omar Epps (oh yes. His fine ass from Love and Basketball), Nicole Ari Parker (the iconic green eyed beauty from Baltimore who slays all her scripts), Jessie T. Usher (who?) and DC Young Fly (the Atlanta Native made famous thanks to Social Media). The trailer for the film has been released and we all were in tears. Mo’Niques character literally carried this trailer. We haven’t seen the full film yet, but we are excited to see what David has done with such a story in conjunction with this cast line up.

Based on the trailer this film is being deemed a MUST SEE by the TrueSlamBook.com staff.
