A Black Lady’s Sketch Show… It’s a No, Sis!

If you search our social media, it’s no secret that we were super excited for A Black Lady’s Sketch Show to hit HBO. The entire team upgraded their Hulu to include HBO just for the show.

With the recent release of episode 4 we can say with certainty that the show is WACK AS FUCKKKKKK. Omg! Who the fuck is in the writers’ room?

Let’s talk:

The show is fashionably perfect. Visually appealing. And, the Melanin is poppin. However, the comedy is blah and the cohesiveness is missing. With a cast of super talented women and creative minds such as Issa Rae, Robin Thede and Lauren Ashley Smith as a Lead Writer, come on sis! This show should be knocking it out the park. Instead, we still tryna past first base.

At this point, can we get a few Wayans Brothers on the writing team? We appreciate the all female writers, but this is some bullshit!

To date, Episode 1 was the best and it has gotten worse and worse by the episode.

Have you seen it yet? If so, what’s your take?

Jay Ellis Takes Over Insecure Ep 2

After taking the backseat in Episode 1, Jay Ellis steps it up 100 Notches and fukken kills.

His character Lawrence is an unemployed app developer seeking inspiration for the next best app. During this episode Lawrence tries to fix the relationship between himself and Issa. While he thinks it’s her Birthday mishap from episode 1 he is unable to get to the root of Issa is refusing to come home or answer his calls.

During a trip to Rite-Aid he runs into Issa and we have no idea what he said because all of his fineness just took over the whole screen. LoL! He has this scruffy unwashed look going on and it makes you wonder what he smells like. Oop! We bet you he smells like old Polo. LoL!

In other show news, Molly’s broken pussy gets rejuvenated and is still broke. But her hair is LAYED for the Gawdz!

Issa is on a mission to save the inner city youth. However, she didn’t plan her thoughts out and walks in the boardroom shooting blanks. Oh yeah, her outfit was utter slayage thanks to Molly 911. LoL!

Overall, we are still in love with this show. It has passed our 2 Episode Test. Truth is, we don’t know who we love more Issa, Lawrence, or Molly. That makes it even better.

Make sure you Tune In Sunday’s to HBO for the New Episodes.

TSB Insecure Show Review

Scrolling through our inbox as usual and we were sent a link to the trailer of Insecure.

After watching the trailer, we headed to On Demand to do a full show review.

Now, we all know things happen so, as we went to find the show we found out the cable was off. Oop! Our bad.

Upon paying the bill we were able to access our On Demand Menu. Shout out to the Pay By Phone option. In any case, we proceeded to TV Shows, then HBO and finally Insecure.

Insecure:

“Two black women share friendship and uncomfortable experiences.”

Let’s get into our rundown. Issa Rae is an amazing, über talented young lady. What started off as a web series entitled, ‘The Mis-Adventures of Awkard Black Girl’ has landed her a spot on HBO under the name ‘Insecure! The politically incorrect ways of the show are absolutely exciting. We haven’t seen anything like this since Dave Chappell. The storyline is relatable. The characters make you think of your personal friends and the fashion is spot on.
Issa:

  • Funny
  • Smart
  • Quick Whitted
  • Cute
  • Very Spunky
  • Needy

The show presents you to a few characters who are a part of Issa’s life. These people are key to the story that she lays out for you. The two main people are:

  1. Her Bestfriend: Funny, Fashion Diva, Weave is Layed for the Gawdz, Eye Candy, Issa’s Right Hand.
  2. Her Boyfriend: Broke, Needy, Ain’t Shit, Cute, Waste of time.

Throughout the episode Issa takes you on a journey of her normal daily flow. It is also her Birthday so we get to see what the turn up is like.

We are excited to see what comes of Insecure. Overall the show gets a 9 out of 10. We will be tuned in weekly and we hope you will as well.
